Internship Data Engineering & Data Science
engineering · Amsterdam · internship
Good to know: This internship is hybrid, which means we work at least 2 days a week at the office in Amsterdam Noord. Another thing to keep in mind: Although the job posting below is written in Dutch, English-speaking interns are welcome too!
Validators is the leading agency for communication research. We work for a wide range of clients: from top 200 advertisers to fast-growing brands and organizations in the non-profit sector. We collect our data using proprietary neuro and AI tools such as Share of Content, EyeCoding, and StoryFlow. With our data and insights, we help brands make truly data-driven choices and grow successfully. Because we innovate and develop a lot ourselves, there are always topics where we could use some help!
The internship
As part of our DataHub team, we build and maintain the technical foundation of our data, analytics, and AI solutions. Every day, we work with Microsoft Fabric, lakehouses, data flows, and semantic models to create reliable, scalable data products.
We are looking for a technically skilled intern to join our team—someone who can quickly get up to speed with our codebase and data flows and actively contribute to improving, testing, and structuring our environment.
This internship focuses on both operational strengthening and in-depth knowledge: you’ll be directly involved in our production environment and contribute to the quality and scalability of our DataHub.
Together, we will determine the topic and research design that suits your education and interests.
We are a young and dynamic company, which means that good ideas are quickly taken up and improvements can be implemented right away. Do you see inefficiencies? Do you have a smarter approach? Do you think something could be done better? If so, we’ll give you the freedom to explore and implement those ideas. So you won’t just be carrying out tasks—you’ll be actively contributing ideas on how to make our DataHub smarter, more efficient, and more innovative.
What will you do?
Collaborating in our Microsoft Fabric environment (Lakehouse, notebooks, data flows, and semantic models)
Working with and improving existing code (including Python and SQL) within our data flows
Structuring and optimizing dependency notebooks and shared logic
Testing and validating semantic models, measures, and data connections
Verifying new features by comparing output, data consistency, and results
Contributing to the standardization and improvement of documentation within the DataHub
What are we looking for?
You are pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Data Science, AI, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field
You have strong technical skills and quickly pick up new systems (such as Fabric)
You have basic experience with Python (for example, in Jupyter Notebooks) and SQL
You work with precision and spot inconsistencies or discrepancies in the data
You can work independently on clearly defined tasks
You document your work clearly and systematically
What do we offer?
A part-time internship (15–20 hours per week)
Direct hands-on experience within a professional data engineering team
Working with Modern Data Architecture in Microsoft Fabric
Expert guidance from experienced data specialists
Plenty of room for initiative and suggestions for improvement
A role that truly impacts the quality and efficiency of our DataHub
